Dance Party and Going Solo

Bad news first: my attempt to collaborate with a local artist to finish the game did not last very long.  Let's just say that it is hard to design a game by committee when you are not even part of the committee :). Unfortunately that means I have wasted a good amount of time carving out a space to accommodate this person.  The good news is that in our disagreement, I was able to better define the vision that has been evolving in my head for the game.  At this point I am reluctant to try another collaboration involving design.  My current plan is to continue doing the art part of the game and try to hire artists to polish it up when everything is well defined.  That means I will get to spend a lot more time modeling, animating and painting in Blender and hopefully get good at it in the process.  So far that has been my weakest point: creating the art assets. I am just too slow at it currently.  To be honest, that is also where I am having the most fun because it is where I am learning the most.  To make matters even worse, I am trying to make some music for the game too.  In the end, I will definitely need the help of professional artists to make everything prettier and nicer.  Hopefully I can soon find the right people to take what I am doing and take it to the next level.

Something I have decided is to fully embrace the idea of taking my daughter's alien drawings and using them as concept art for the game.  This will be her game, and her aliens will be a part of it.  I will try to post some of those here soon.
