New Beginning

Yes, I got a day job again.  And I'm still getting used to the new routine.  Hopefully it will not feel strange for too long.  So, what has happened since my last post?  At that point I had realized, two months into it, that I would not be able to finish the game before needing to get a job.  Since I had spent a lot of that time doing a heck of a lot of game art and little programming, I thought I needed to switch and do something different. I wanted it to be fun, but also something that could help me with the impending job search.  So I revisited that little 4 in a line online game I started last year.  I beefed up the server code and learned a heck of a lot of Erlang in the process, and I made it playable on mobile devices.  If you feel like helping me test it a bit more, point your browser to http://4inline.engelsanchez.net, start a new game and choose to email a friend to join you.  If you want to know how it was made, take a look at my Github page, where you will find the code for the front and back end parts. After a month of that, I spent another month actually interviewing like a freaking maniac.  I'll spare you the details.  It was exhausting, but it's over now and I've been working at my new gig for 3 weeks now.

But I haven't stopped with the game programming.  I've been helping my friend Luis with a tough game contract he's been handling like a pro for a month.  As soon as that's done, I'm going to go back to working on my beloved Alien Party.  That is, if the long days at my new place leave me any energy for that.
